Zero Energy Home (ZEH) Solar Tour!

As part of the American Solar Energy Society's (ASES) National Solar Tour, we are proud to announce the open houze of FRZEH (Fats and Reedas Zero Engery Home).

When? October 3, 9:00am to 5:00pm
Where? 1500 Honeysuckle Road, Atwood TN 38220 (Map)
What? Free open house. Description: Frid tied. 6.3kWh home in the TVA's Generation Partners Program.  Super performance building shell, geothermal heat pump (GHP), desuperheater, passive solar, HEPA filtration with energy recovery ventilation (ERV), heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system located inside conditioned envelope.

About the National Solar Tour: The ASES National Solar Tour is the world's largest grassroots solar event.  This event offers you the opportunity to tour homes and buildings to see how you can use solar energy, energy efficiciency, and other sustainable technologies to reduce monthly utility bills and help tackle climate change.  More than 150,000 participants will visit some 5,000 buildings in 3,000 communities across the US.

Taste of the Arts Showcase

Local artists from the Glenview area will display their various forms of art to include paintings, drawings, singing, drumming and storytelling.  Get your taste of the arts at the 2009 Glenview Home and Garden Tour.  The Glenview Historic District Home and Garden Tour is scheduled for September 26^th from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30p.m. Tickets are $10 and include a guided tour to homes and gardens plus the Taste of the Arts showcase.  Tickets are available the day of the tour at the Glenview Community Center located at 1141 S. Barksdale at Lamar.

Article: Plan to scale down Memphis-area roads and incorporate land use

On September 14, the Commerical Appeal published an article about a land-transport use project entitled "Imagine 2035" (which can be found here).  It's a short article, so please check it out!  Essentially, the goal of the project is to identify the transportation needs of the Memphis community and better plan for roads and neighborhoods to work together, instead of having oversized, commercialized roads, which discourage community building.
