Livable Memphis is hosting a Pizza With Planners session featuring Kyle Wagenschutz, City of Memphis Bicycle/Pedestrian Coordinator, who will discuss the City's plans for enhancing metro transportation through new dedicated bike lanes. Wagenschutz will present the City's plans for implementing these new “Green Lanes”, as well as unveil the new public information campaign to raise awareness for the initiative and improve safety for all road users.
Background: In May 2013, Mayor Wharton announced plans to implement a network of "Green Lanes" (i.e., protected bike lanes) as a part of the city’s commitment to the Green Lane Project, a program of People For Bikes focusing on building protected bicycle lanes in six U.S. cities, including Memphis. The City installed its first "Green Lane" along Overton Park Avenue, between Bellevue and Cleveland, in Fall 2013. Public education on the rules for these Green Lanes is essential to ensure the roads are safe for all users, regardless of their mode of transportation.
We look forward to seeing you there.
